Wool ribbed tights - the best alternative to catching your death

As we’re sure you’re all aware by now, the UK is currently blanketed in a lot of very deep snow.

Getting to work and the shops has become akin to an Arctic expedition and unless you’re wearing about six layers, you’re sure to feel that Siberian wind coming through to bite you.

However, we were stunned the other day to see a young woman close to MyTights HQ walking down the street - mercifully where the snow had been cleared - wearing a skirt, bare legs and flip-flops. We kid you not.

Clearly this behaviour is sure to lead to a lot of people catching their death over the next few weeks, but it can be so easily avoided.

If you are hell-bent on wearing a skirt instead of trousers, put on a pair of wool ribbed tights too, for heavens’ sake! We find that these are usually warmer than trousers, plus they can be easily tucked into boots and won’t come off with your wellies. You can even wear them under trousers if you get really cold.

One of our favourite products is Falke’s Soft Merino Wool Ribbed Tights, which are top quality, really warm and not at all itchy thanks to their blend of wool and cotton.

Eat, drink and be merry this Christmas thanks to Spanx

If your Christmas holidays are anything like ours, they usually amount to lots of stuffing your face and no time whatsoever to go to the gym.

To be honest, a walk on Boxing Day to stop us going stir crazy is the closest we get to exercise over the festive season.

It doesn’t matter - it’s Christmas, we tell ourselves. However, this backfires slightly when we look somewhat bulgy under the outfits we planned to wear and envisioned ourselves looking fantastic in.

Thankfully though, all is not lost. Thanks to a miracle-working invention named Spanx, we can scoff that last choccy without even thinking about our waistlines until the New Year.

Danica Lo, author of How Not to Look Fat in the US, told the Fayetteville Observer that she highly recommends the Spanx Hide & Sleek Full Length Slip.

"Other shapers can cause muffin top, but this slip won’t exacerbate one problem while solving another," she pointed out.

You can then go on to dress your best and emphasise the positive, she said.

We agree, the Spanx slips are fantastic - there is also a strapless one for more versatility under bandeau dresses. To get the most smooth silhouette, always choose the size you usually wear - too small will constrict you and too large won’t give you full support.

Bebaroque - wear these stunning tights through winter and into spring

Bebaroque tights have been huge in the UK ever since they were spotted by the fashion press and their creators Chloe Patience and Mhairi McNicol won a Scottish Fashion Award back in 2008.

Now, there is no stopping them and their autumn and winter range is proving extremely popular here at MyTights.com.

We raved about Bebaroque’s Russian-style and embellished hosiery a couple of months back and the tights have since appeared in Grazia, Look and on This Morning.

However, it seems that they are not only going to look stunning when paired with your Christmas party frocks - they could also look great with another up and coming trend.

The fashion bigwigs have said that the boyfriend shirt is back for winter into spring, and the National reckons Bebaroque’s tights will be perfect for adding a spot of personality to an all-white top.

"New ways to wear [the shirts] include belted over leggings or, for the daring, over Bebaroque’s Olga tights, with that fabulous flash of gold snake running down the front," its style reporter said.

We agree - what a great look! And keeping accessories from one season to the next is pure ‘chiconomics’ in action. What more excuse do you need to get your hands on some Bebaroque loveliness?

Aristoc make ladders look sexy

With so many high-quality hosiery brands out there, it can be hard to choose which ones to wear for an evening out.

We often have this problem at MyTights HQ, especially since we just have to invest in a selection of all the products that come through the door!

However, we all agree that we love funky fashion tights that make an impact on both our girlfriends and on our male mates.

And there has been some great feedback on Aristoc’s Ladder Black Tights, which were new in this season. They are backseamed, but the seam is designed to look like a uniform ladder (see pic) for a cool, alternative look.

Normally we hate ladders on our tights, but for these we can make an exception! One of our girls wore these with black tailored shorts and a Victorian-style blouse on a night out and really got heads turning as girls and guys realised they weren’t your ordinary black tights!

Just the effect any fashionista secretly wants - give them a try and let us know what response you get. Don’t forget you can add your reviews to any of our other products too, we’d love to know what you think!

Henry Holland’s Christmas collection arrives - prepare to be dazzled!

If, like Whitney Port and the rest of the female population, you’ve been drooling over the range of tights that Henry Holland designed for Pretty Polly earlier this year, then you’re going to love his new Christmas collection.

New in at MyTights.com, there are three styles in the range, all of which are limited edition to add to their collectability.

The Mock Sock Tights allow you to get the look of knee high socks while keeping your legs covered with sheer hosiery, while the Super Suspender Tights look like stockings and are ‘held up’ by long black mock suspenders.

Meanwhile, perhaps our favourites are the Wanna Party Tights for their sheer quirkiness. They spell out ‘wanna’ down one leg and ‘party’ down the other, meaning that they’d be great for a night out on the tiles - can you imagine how fun they’d be for a hen do?

Henry’s tights have been selling out all over the country, so if you want a pair from the new collection in time for Christmas, head over to the relevant page at MyTights.com and fill your basket!

Spanx ‘will let you wear clingy clothing with ease’

If you’ve been reading the fashion press lately, you’ll know that jumper dresses are a big trend at the moment.

They are great for teaming with flat boots as part of a winter day outfit, or for glamming up for going out.

However, if you’ve tried one on, you may have found that they can be a little … well, unforgiving.

Sara Hollamby, a business image consultant writing for City AM, said she discovered this to her detriment, seeing lumps and bumps of flesh bulging out where she didn’t realise she had any after donning one.

However, she didn’t just banish the offending dress from her wardrobe - she simply paired it with some Spanx.

"Once you’ve discovered these, the clingy clothing section of any shop will be opened up to you," she enthused. "Spanx help smooth out your silhouette underneath the clothing and improve your shape."

For the menace of clingy dresses over the festive season, Sara particularly recommended the Spanx Hide and Seek Strapless Full Slip.

We agree - we love this product at MyTights.com. It will give you enough light support to go bra-less, while also smoothing and firming the thighs, tummy and bottom. Dress disaster? What dress disaster?!

Henry Holland - his beautiful tights are popping up everywhere!

If you cast your mind back a few weeks, you may remember us mentioning - OK, raving about - Henry Holland’s new collection for Pretty Polly.

We were lucky enough to go to the launch party back in April and when the collection arrived at MyTights.com’s HQ in August, it was just as delicious in real life as it looked on the catwalks.

The Alphabet Tights, Graduated Tights and All Over Houses Tights all proved particular favourites with us, especially when we saw Alexa Chung wearing the former at a festival looking oh-so-cool!

And it turns out that everyone else loves Monsieur Holland’s designs just as much as we do with his sheer patterned tights featuring in a number of fashion shoots just lately.

This week we spotted the range in the News of the World’s Fabulous magazine, which created a colourful shoot that really showed the tights off to their full potential.

The All Over Houses tights were shown in pink, teamed with a classy brocade dress and pearls for a girly look, while the Mock Stockings Tights also looked subtle in pink along with a flowery playsuit.

We loved the ’60s effect that was created by a shift dress and heels combined with blue Graduated Tights too.

With all this coverage, the gorgeous styles are likely to be flying off the shelves, but you can catch them if you’re quick at MyTights.com.

Have a peep at our other patterned tights too while you’re there.

Houndstooth is back - ease yourself in by wearing the design on patterned tights

If you’ve been checking out the fashion mags lately, you may have noticed that a trend we thought had been left in the ’80s is back with a vengeance - houndstooth.

Along with several other styles from the decade that brought us Dynasty, the pattern is all over the pages of our favourite fashion bibles, and that means it’s making its way into the shops too.

The celebs cottoned on quickly and Lucy Lui, Blake Lively and Kate Nash have all been spotted wearing the checked monochrome to dramatic effect, with the former opting for a gorgeous houndstooth trench coat.

We appreciate that full-on houndstooth may take some getting used to. But fear not, help is at hand - as ever - in the form of our favourite accessory: patterned tights!

You’ll know that Jonathan Aston is always at the forefront of the colourful, fashionable hosiery market, but the brand has excelled itself this season in terms of patterns and prints.

Brand new this autumn are the Jonathan Aston Dog Tooth Coloured Tights, which are a Noughties update on the classic pattern. Team them with a plain trench coat, pencil skirt and perhaps a lace blouse and you have got one hot look on your hands … oops, we mean legs!

Available in Jewel Pink, Ochre, Peacock and Velvet Purple, they are a fashion bargain at £10 - check them out on our website and embrace your inner fashionista.

The new Emilio Cavallini range has landed at MyTights.com!

We are very excited to bring you today’s news, as we can finally reveal a collection we have been waiting for here at MyTights HQ with bated breath.

Emilio Cavallini’s new autumn and winter collection is here and it is as fashion forward as we expected.

The designer has looked to the catwalk and the A-list for inspiration, resulting in a range of hosiery that incorporates everything from lace to argyle, from animal print to lurex.

Our favourite piece could be the Holes Tights, which are reminiscent of some funky legwear that we saw Rihanna wearing earlier in the year.

However, for some over-the-top disco glam, check out the Super Opaque Tights with Crepe. These have a flared piece of material around each ankle, creating a look that John Travolta would be proud of!

Whether you need tights for a party or a formal business meal, Emilio Cavallini is guaranteed to have something to tickle your fancy.

Check out the whole collection and all of our fashion hosiery at MyTights.com.
